About
The Barskoon Valley is a fertile valley on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul, stretching from the foothills of the Terskey Ala-Too mountains down to the lakeshore. The valley is famous for the Barskoon waterfalls: glacial waters from the mountains cascade over stepped cliffs, forming impressive falls. The hiking trail to the waterfalls is the valley's most popular route.
On the wide pastures around Barskoon, you can encounter herds of wild horses roaming freely. Historically, the valley was an important crossing point on the Silk Road, and the famous Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov grew up in this region. With its natural beauty and cultural heritage, Barskoon is an unforgettable stop.
