About
Bishkek is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan. It lies in the north of the country, in the Chuy Valley at the foot of the Kyrgyz Alatau mountains. The city is known for its wide boulevards, shady parks and impressive Soviet-era architecture.
Ala-Too Square is the heart of the city, home to the State Flagpole and the Manas Statue. The State Historical Museum showcases thousands of years of Kyrgyz history. Osh Bazaar is a colourful open-air market where you can find everything from spices and traditional felt crafts to fresh fruit and nuts. Bishkek is also where Kyrgyz hospitality and modern Central Asian life come together, making it the natural starting point of any tour programme.
