About
Jeti-Oguz is a famous rock formation about 30 kilometres west of Karakol, southeast of Issyk-Kul. Its name means "Seven Bulls" in Kyrgyz: seven massive red sandstone rocks resemble seven bulls standing side by side. These red cliffs form a striking contrast with the green meadows and snow-capped peaks around them.
The area is also called the "Heart of Kyrgyzstan" and is one of the most photographed places in the country. Hiking trails in the valley pass close to the rock formations and offer panoramic views. Jeti-Oguz is also an ideal base for traditional yurt camps, horseback rides and exploring the region's natural beauty.
