About
The Semenovka Valley is a wide, open valley southeast of Issyk-Kul, on the road to Karakol. It is named after the Russian geographer Pyotr Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky, who explored the region in 1856-1857. The valley is characterised by endless meadows, mountain streams and gentle hills.
The area is one of the most popular routes for horseback riding: horse tours starting from the valley extend to the high pastures of neighbouring Suttu-Bulak. In summer, nomadic camps are set up on the pastures and visitors are hosted in traditional yurts. With its wide-open scenery and peaceful atmosphere, Semenovka is an ideal starting point for exploring Kyrgyzstan on horseback.
